Now in its second year, ‘RMS Works on Paper’ is an exhibition from the pupils at The Royal Masonic School for Girls that features work from girls currently working towards a GCSE or A Level in Fine Art, Textile Design or Photography.
The opening reception
for this eclectic and tactile exhibition of work on Tuesday 7 November 2017 (5pm - 7pm)
is taking place at the gallery prior to the school’s dance performance in the Watersmeet auditorium. Students and staff, family and friends and new faces are all welcome along to see the artwork be unveiled on its first day in the space.
from Tuesday 7 to Sunday 31 December 2017, aims to showcase the outstanding preparatory drawings, prints, embroidery, models and photographs that often hide within the pages of lovingly crafted sketchbooks and folders. The focus is normally on the outcome but as all creative people know the ideas are discovered and recorded in a variety of methods on paper before they are brought more fully to life on canvas, garments, print, wall hangings or in 3D form.
That’s not all, if you enjoy getting creative and would like to print your own festive tags, cards and wrappings for Christmas, why not book onto our
lino printing workshop on Saturday 18 November 2017 from 10am - 12pm at the Royal Masonic School? Hosted by the school’s art department, the workshop is free but there is a small cash charge for materials, which can be purchased during the activity. Spaces are limited and booking is required in advance. Please contact Elaine Johnson
