Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere (PG - TBC)
Friday 9 January 2026, 11am, 2pm & 7pm
(running time 120 mins)
From raw demos to haunting masterpiece, Springsteen’s Nebraska revealed America’s shadows beyond rock’s bright lights.
Bruce Springsteen’s 1982 album Nebraska began as a set of rough home demos he recorded alone on a four-track cassette machine while simultaneously working with the E Street Band on what would become Born in the U.S.A..
According to Warren Zanes’ book, Springsteen felt those stark, haunted solo recordings carried an authenticity that full-band versions couldn’t capture. Instead of reworking them, he released the original demos as the album itself. The result was a stripped-down, haunting portrait of American isolation, standing in sharp contrast to the arena-filling sound of his next record.
